Comment

Compositional etymology implying several manipulations (loss of the initial syllable of εἰλύω, change of the [g] of ἄγαν into [kh]. It refers to the feature of the mist "wrapped around" men. The etymon is given either as εἰλύω or as εἰλέω (same meaning).
