Kosmēsai "to arrange in order", from which was also named kosmos "order", from the disposition it has, and the kings who order the troops are called kosmētores

Comment

The derivation reverses the linguistically correct one: Apollonius derived the noun from the verb, whereas linguistically the verb is derived from the noun, being a denominative. The correct derivation is found in the Epimerismi Homerici Il. 1.16b (κοσμήτορε: ἐκ τοῦ κοσμήτωρ· τοῦτο παρὰ τὸ κοσμῶ· τοῦτο παρὰ τὸ κόσμος· τοῦτο παρὰ τὸ κάζω, τὸ κοσμῶ).
