Quotation
Translation (En)
Eran "the earth". Because it is firmly rooted (enerrizōtai). Or it is thus called from erisai "to quarrel", which is to rival about equal land. Homer (Il. 12.423) ‘hō t' oligōi eni khōrōi erizēton peri isēs’ ("and the two of them fight in the strait place over the rights of division", transl. Huddleston)

Comment
Derivational etymology, referring to the earth as cosmic body. The earth is firmly installed, "rooted", in the world.
