Ethos "custom": from ethō "to be accustomed to doing something", from which also comes ethnos "people", for each people has their own customs

From *swedh-os-, originally identical with ἦθος. Belongs with ἐθίζω, εἴωθα. Cognate with Ved. svadhā́- "custom" (Beekes, EDG)
