Translation (En)

Akhlus "mist": from the fact it troubles (okhleîn) the eyes and hurts them. This is Heraclides Ponticus' etymology.

Comment

Derivational etymology implying one modification, the change of the initial [o] into [a]. The intended etymon may be the noun ὄχλος rather than the verb ὀχλέω. The noun is etymologized after its effect.
