Quotation

Ὑγρόν. ὑδρόν τι ὄν. ὁ δὲ Ἡρωδιανὸς παρὰ τὸν ὕσω μέλλοντα φησὶν ὑρὸς, καὶ πλεονασμῷ τοῦ γ, ὑγρὸς καὶ ὑγρόν

Translation (En)

Hugron ("moist"), a "watery" thing (hudron). But Herodian says that from the future husō ("I will rain") one derives *huros, and through adjunction of [g], hugros and hugron.

Comment

The adjective ὑδρός is derived through a simple change of letters from an adjective *ὑδρός "watery" (not used in Greek, except in the substantivized forms ὕδρος "water-snake" and ὕδρα "id."), itself derived from ὕδωρ. "Watery" and "moist, wet" are close enough from the semantic point of view for that etymology to have been considered obvious
