Quotation
τὸ δὲ δέμας ἐπὶ τῶν ζώντων λαμβάνει ὁ Ποιητὴς, καὶ ἐτυμολογεῖται παρὰ τὸ δόμα (l. δῶμα) εἶναι τῆς ψυχῆς
Translation (En)
The word demas "bodily frame" is understood for living beings in Homer, and its etymology is that it is the house (dōma) of the soul.

Comment
The transmitted form doma for dōma is due to the loss of vocalic quantity in Byzantine Greek. This etymology, which is correct from our modern point of view, relies on the regular morphological alternation between /e/ and /o/, demas being the e grade of the root as in demō "to build" and domos, dōma the o grade of the same root
