Modern etymology
Ἄρειος is derived from Ἄρης
Persistence in Modern Greek
Άρειος survives in Modern Greek to designate 1. the 'imaginative inhabitant of the respective planet', 2. anyone referring to the god Άρης, 3. the historical place name Άρειος Πάγος, which designates the superior Greek Court today as a concept.
