Quotation
Δεῖσα: Ὃ σημαίνει τὴν ὑγρασίαν· διὰ τῆς ει διφθόγγου γράφεται· ἀπὸ γὰρ τοῦ δεύσω μέλλοντος γέγονεν δεῦσα, καὶ κατὰ τροπὴν τοῦ υ εἰς ι δεῖσα· καὶ τὸ παράδεισος διὰ τῆς ει διφθόγγου· παρὰ τὴν δεῖσαν γάρ ἐστιν
Translation (En)
Deisa "filth", which means "moisture". It is spelled with the diphthong /ei/. For, from the future deusō "I will soak", comes *deusa, and by change of /u/ to /I/, deisa. And paradeisos "enclosure, garden" is spelled with the diphthong /ei/, for it comes from deisa

Comment
Derivational etymology starting, as often, from the future form. It requires one formal change, in the diphthong. Semantically, "slime" is a kind of watery earth, therefore it was easily derived from a verb meaning "to soak". The etymon is a cause of the lemma
