MG still has παρειά as a learned word, or a technical word referring to the "cheeks" of a vase. The usual word is μάγουλο

Derivational etymology, referring to the changing color of the cheeks under various emotions. However, the etymon is not the name of the color, whatever it may be, but the verb "to allow". The etymon is formally close but semantically very distant
