Compositional etymology. Among the sources of Orion, Philoxenus and Herodian cannot be the authors of this etymology—however, Herodian could mention it and argue against it. Heraclides Ponticus the Younger is the only plausible source. It is a descriptive etymology, referring to the festive garments worn by the young couple
