Comment
Compositional etymology, which is not very frequent in Philoxenus. The first member is identified as λαός, and retains in the lemma only its first syllable. Of the second member only the initial consonant is kept. It is a functional etymology: the function of the lane or the street is to allow people to go from one place to another, here with the metaphor of the flow of people (ῥέω).
