Compositional etymology, rather simple. It does not require any formal change. The idea is that the lane, situated outside along the wall, leaves the wind blow through. The quotation, from Od. 22.128, is erroneous (the line reads ἦν ὁδὸς ἐς λαύρην "there was a way to the corridor") in the Genuinum, but correct in the Et. Magnum.
