Here is a Stoic etymology for a Homeric adjective referring in this context to Atlas (Od.1.52). Cleanthes' analysis is based on the Stoic identification between Atlas and the Providence. The main point of this etymology is the rough breathing inserted by Cleanthes to support his analysis: Atlas is mindful of the whole world.
