Quotation

ὀνομάζεται δὲ, ὡς ἔφην ἄρτι, κενεὼν ὁ μεταξὺ τοῦ θώρακός τε καὶ τοῦ ἰσχίου ὀστοῦ τόπος ἀπὸ τοῦ κενεὸς εἶναι

Translation (En)

The flank (keneōn), which is the place between the chest and the hip bone, is thus named because it is empty (keneos), as I just said

Comment

Correct derivational etymology. The flank is the body part where there is no bone, and is there fore "empty". Galen takes as the etymon the epic form of the adjective, κενεός, instead of the Attic form κενός
