Μελῳδὸς, παρὰ τὸ μέλος καὶ τὸ ᾠδή· τὸ δὲ μέλος σημαίνει δύο· τὸν ψαλμὸν καὶ γίνεται παρὰ τὸ μέλ[λ]ω τὸ φροντίζω· ἢ παρὰ τὸ ἔλω τὸ ἐλαύνω, ἔλος καὶ μέλος. σημαίνει καὶ τὸ μέρος τοῦ σώματος, καὶ γίνεται παρὰ τὸ μείρω τὸ μερίζω. Translation (En)
Melōidos "lyric singer", from Melos "lyric verse" and ōidē "song". And melos has two meanings: the song, and it comes from melō "to take care of", or from *elō which means elaunō "to drive", *elos and melos. It also means the body limb, and it comes from meirō "to divide"
