Quotation
σημαίνει καὶ τὸ μέρος τοῦ σώματος, καὶ γίνεται παρὰ τὸ μείρω τὸ μερίζω [NB: the Gudianum's spelling μέλλω is incorrect and reflects the conusion with μέλλω "to be about to" because of the loos of geminate consonants]
Translation (En)
Melōidos "lyric singer", from Melos "lyric verse" and ōidē "song". And melos has two meanings: the song, and it comes from melō "to take care of", or from *elō which means elaunō "to drive", *elos and melos. It also means the body limb, and it comes from meirō "to divide"

Comment
Derivational etymology meant to account for the meaning "lyric verse", because music is carefully composed. No formal change is required
