Ὄλβος παρὰ γὰρ τὸ ὅλος, καὶ πλεονασμῷ τοῦ β ὄλβος· οὕτως Ἡρωδιανὸς ἐν τῷ περὶ παθῶν· διὸ καὶ τὰ παρ’ αὐτὸ διὰ τοῦ ο· πανόλβιος· ὑπερόλβιος.

Translation (En)

Olbos "prosperity" comes from holos "entire", and with addition of the [b], olbos. This is what Herodian says in the Peri pathôn. This is why its derivatives also have the [o]: panolbios "very prosperous", huperolbios "extremely prosperous"

Comment

The last part of Theognostus' comment probably also comes from Herodian, even though Lentz does not include it. It says that ὄλβιος, here mentioned only in compounds, is derived from ὄλβος.
